DC SW – part 1 of x

Well, it’s come and gone in a rather quick fashion. I have plenty of thoughts to share for the upcoming days, but today I’m going to start with an overview of the weekend.

This weekend about 60+ people in DC meet up for DC Startup Weekend. Friday night we decided to launch a social network for communities about what’s going on in their neighborhood, HolaNeighbor. Friday night left many in the group frustrated over a lack of direction towards where HolaNeighbor could go. I was really nervous we’d have about 10 people on Saturday morning cranking out an unflushed vision.

Startup Weekend – DC Style

Startup Weekend is officially rolling in DC. Will, Brian and Andy, Andrew, and I have begun planning for the October 26-28 weekend event.

You can follow the progress of the planning on the official site and also on my blog. The big decision that has been made is we’ll be doing all development in Ruby on Rails (of course CSS and a few other things will be thrown in).

As of this post, we already officially have 27 people registered! Space will be limited (based ons venue size) and you can register now. Programmers are greatly needed, but we’re also looking for PR, marketing, legal, cooks, designers, user experience pros, and much more. Did I mention it’s free?!?
